Re: Religious or Civil?
I think you need to sit down and write out the pros and cons of both and see how you really feel about them and then make the decision. Also if you want to get married in the church you have to make sure they are available on the date you have booked!!
You have just under 2 years yet so this time next year you can have your decision made and can make any extra bookings you need to make!

I am definitely having a church wedding, it's what we both want. I don't think it would be the same without it, but now that's just me and him, he feels the same, wants the whole lot.
I can see the savings though with a civil ceremony in the hotel or is there really much to save by doing it this way?

My h2b has sort of mentioned this too, "maybe we'd be better just having it all in the one place". I don't like the idea much I want the full Church ceremony.

Im not sure if there is much saving in a civil ceremony, okay you dont have to pay the priest or give a "donation" but you still have to decorate the room, pay the registrar etc so there may be some saving but it all depends on if the hotel would ahve the room to do a civil ceremony and be able to set up a seperate room for the function, and how much they are going to charge you for renting this extra room, and you may have to pay to get a licence to have the ceremony in the hotel if it doesnt hold a licence. YOu also have to think about chair covers etc, if you have 120 for the function, do you need another 120 for the ceremony or are they going to use the 120 for the ceremony and move them all to the function room??? Also if you are going to be using or paying for transport if you are only going to the hotel is it worth the expense of them, even if you go for photos somewhere else??
Also, maybe ive taken this up wrong, but can you only have a civil ceremony on a weekday, i.e it cant be done on a saturday or sunday???
