Pearls A taboo?
Heya Weddies,
I have chosen a beautiful vintage style wedding dress for the big day & was hoping to wear pearls with it, but a few people have now told me that an old saying calls this bad luck? anyone here ever hear that? someone else also told me its bad luck to wear pearls on wedding day unless ur name is margaret? just wondering if anyone else has heard anything like this. thanks xx

Re: Pearls A taboo?
hi SabSweetman2010,
I never heard anything about pearls being bad luck.
I definitely never heard it being linked to margaret!
Anywya, I think pearly are lovely and classy (if they are decent pearls!)
Pearls would go lovely with a vintage style dress.
I was planning on wearing my granny's pearls, as that would be my something old.

Hi Weddies,
A great big welcome to you all and delighted to see your enthusiasm.
There is a myth/tradition about pearls listed in our traditions section of our weddingzone.ie planning guide. I've listed it below for you and put a link to the tradition in our planning guide section.
http://www.weddingzone.ie/categories/details/planning/traditions
Wearing pearls: To some, pearls represent future tears and are a bad sign. However, to others, the wearing of pearls takes the place of the bride's real tears, thus she'll have a happy, tear-free wedded life.
So SabSweetman2010, I'd say wear the pearls, they would go beautifully with your vintage style wedding dress.

I've heard of both of those sayings. I say, you're getting married now so it's time to make your own traditions with your h2b! The pearls can mean whatever you want them to mean hunny, and just like the admin said, they will look gorgeous with your vintage style wedding gown!

A woman I used to babysit for wore pearls to her wedding, she is happily married for over 12 years and has 3 lovely children, who I have all babysat and the family have now become good friends to myself and h2b. You pick the tradition that you prefare, but honestly I think pearls are fabulous with vintage dresses, and I always thought pearls were traditional ot wear for a bride!

Id like ot have pearl earings, nice small ones like studs, not too sure about the necklace, dont think it would suit the style of dresses that I like, though might fo for a neclace with a pearl droplet!
