Anyway I was thinking more about the dress for the afters, I think I might try and stick with the colour theme and have a white and blue dress..

oooh that sounds nice! White and blue (I have an image in my head, which is probably totally wrong).

My best friend had a summer wedding during a heat wave and changed into a white summer dress and white flip-flops and could dance and have fun and looked super-cute ;)

I know what you mean, I think I would hate taking off a dress that I would pay so much for as it it'll probably never be worn again, so if its comfortable, get the day out of it, but I would bring along another dress or outfit, just in case.

A guest stumbled and spilled nearly a full pint over my friends dress right over her stomach and chest, I wouldnt want to be left in a wet dress for the night.

You could always wear the dress again and get one of them trash the dress photos done.

Do most people really still but a dress for the evening of just stay in their wedding dress?

the last 3 weddings I've been to they just stayed in their wedding dresses.

I have known some close friends that do have 2 sets of dress, one for the church wedding and the other is for the reception or the afters. But to be practical, some brides wear their wedding dress and just remove the extension of the dress for the afters. Saving them extra bucks for other utilities expenses.
