I want to use take that "Rule the world", and h2b loves that song too. My mother has me damned as she wants us to have the righteous brothers, "all the girls in the family have had it and I'd be breaking tradition by doing what I want, but it's my wedding and I am having what we want not anyone else. I told her we would have it on second. I think that's fair. Am I being bad?

Yes I have to say I definitely agree here, the first dance song should be something that is special to both the bride and groom and what they want not the parents etc. We are going for a very unusual one, as it is a Christmas wedding and both myself and h2b absolutely love the song, we are going for Frankie goes to hollywood, "The power of love"

Strange I know we we find it romantic, slow, Christmassy and we both love it. God knows what the guests will think.

I would never have thought of having a song like that and it's not strange it's a beautiful song and perfect I think for a first dance at a Christmas wedding, def so romantic, and great that you both love it. Go for it!

Yeah you go for it girl. I think the first song really should be a song that means something to both of you or at least one you both really like.

We havent picked a first dance song, there are plenty of songs out there but we dont really have a song anymore.......when we started going out metallica "nothing else matters" and aerosmith armagedon song were our songs, but years on we dong really have a song anymore. And while I would love nothing else matters h2b wants a typical slow song while I want something different. Though it is actually one of the parts I am dreading as we NEVER dance together, even a shuffle around in a circle and not comfortable with the thought of dancing with all eyes on us!

I think me and my partner look real awkward slow dancing together, like 2 penguins or something. We're just not good at it, maybe if we exaggerate it a bit people will think we're having a laugh and laugh with us instead of at us.

I know tradition is important but also isn't it tradition that the first dance song is significant to the bride & groom. Is their any reasoning with your mother, as in you could choose to play it later & maybe mention why it is important??
