Myself and my H2B decided that we didn't want kids at the wedding. The reason being is there are so many nieces and nephews on both sides.There's 17 of them altogether. There would be 13 of them under 10, there would be 6 6year olds and 4 4 year olds. we really want everyone to enjoy themselves and not have our families running around after kids all day especially as some of the family are in the bridal party which means only 1 person will be looking after their kids.
My H2B's family were great and said that they were delighted they would have the day to themselves to enjoy but my family are kicking up a stink. No matter how much i try to reason with them im being told that i obviously dont love my nieces and nephews.
We dont have any kids ourselves and neither do any of our friends and we dont want kids messing and crying all through the church either. We just want everyone to enjoy themselves.

I was just wondering what people thought about having kids at their wedding?

I can see both your points I'm having kids at my wedding and i've organised babysitters with the hotel for the kids for the day and night but if your addiment you don't want children at your wedding its really your choice and your family will just have to accept it.

I am having kids at my wedding too, now there's no pressure from family to have them, I just did as I didn't want to leave any family or close friends etc., out, but I have been to weddings where family and friends brought kids and you cant really relax and enjoy yourself when looking after kids, the idea of babysitter to mind and occupy kids at the wedding is great, I am going to look into this.

At the end of it, it's your wedding and it's up to you if you don't want kids.

Hi Ladies, myself and h2b havent made a definate decision on kids at the wedding yet, though we are leaning towards not inviting children except for 4 (h2b daughter, my sister, h2b nephew and h2b nephew/niece) If we start inviting children outside of that we have 15 before we leave close family friends and close cousins (i.e kids of 1st cousins) never mind kids of friends, neighbours etc.

I think we are going to keep from inviting kids also, it would be just too expensive, there's too many on both sides especially h2b, he has an older family and there is 22 immediate nieces and nephews alone and 13 from my side before we go outside the brothers and sisters element of the family. So ad the rest of the family in and you can imagine where we'd be at, we just can't afford that, so sorry kiddies.

wow thats alot of nieces and nephews!!! Not sure what our venue is going to charge per child yet either as havnt got the final charge per head so that could make us make a decision aswell if its going to be quite expensive per child!

We have decided to leave it up 2 the individual parents as we are lucky that there isnt many children in our family yet. Only 6. Even the parents are saying that they will probably leave the children with a sitter anyway so they can relax & enjoy the day rather than have 2 be running around after the children. It is your day & should be what you are happiest with & it is very selfish of others to make you feel otherwise.
