i think its amazing that everyone here is a 'young bride' as such. it just shows that getting married younger isnt as uncommon as people make it out to be :heart2:

It does take time for people to come around, but I think once they see your taking it seriously its not to bad...
Its crazy that the majority of us will be soo young like it seems to be between 23-25 age group.. why can't I meet any young brides in real life??

I wonder if the reason it is mostly young brides on this is because more younger people use the internet and are more aware of these kind of sites

Maybe, but on one fo the other sites im on there are is a good mix of bridal ages! At the moment im the only girl of my friends engaged and also the only one in my family (including extended) engaged as my cousin got married there during the summer. No one I was in school with is engaged either, most people at home are older ie 25 + when they get married and usually dont have long engagements either, but tend to have long relationships before getting engaged!

Yeah i am the exact same, I don't think anyone I went to school with has gotten married, there was been a couple of people I hung around with as a teenager that got married, but in there culture its normal to get married young

I find it a bit strange that none of my friends are engaged as would like if they were to chat to them about wedding things, even none of the girls at work are engaged so its kinda lonely. but love these forums!!!!

It's funny, my mother got married at 21, many other older relatives got married 'young'. But it wasn't considered young then, it was just considered normal.

I think it's a good thing - I'm way older than 21 and I can say that more relationships before settling down is not necessarily a good thing, people just get more hurt and bitter, meaning that future relationships can get tricky, people don't trust and don't want to get hurt and find it hard to be emotionally close (not everyone of course!).

Also I think no one knows which relationships will last or not, being older when you marry is no more guarantee than when you are younger that things are going to be a bed of roses for all eternity.

My mum was nearly 24 when she got married, and hasnt said anything about my age when I get married. She was shocked when I got engaged as she felt I was very young, but she was happy enough when we said we wouldnt be getting married for a few years.

I think your right b2be, no one can predict how long a marriage will last, and being older when you get married doesnt guarantee that it will last either! Most people I meet know dont say anything as I seem to give off the impression that I am older, its people at home that I get reactions out of, though most people at home dont know im planning a wedding yet, and hopefully will keep it that way, only want a small and quiet wedding of family and close friends and would prefare not many people to know about it!

i will be 31 when i get married, may 2013 & we will be 2gether 12 years when we say i do. were 2gether since i was 19 & we both knew that some day we'd get married. Weve just being enjoying life 2gether. I knew back then that i would spend my life with him. I dont think age is the defining factor at all. Happiness & love are way more important.
